Social impact

Our kimonos & pjs have been bought to life by the Saheli Women, an all-female social enterprise in rural Rajasthan whose mission is to empower women through economic self-sufficiency. This incredible organisation creates meaningful livelihood opportunities for over 70 female artisans whilst passionately reviving and preserving ancestral handicraft techniques.

Additionally, these women & their children are given access to health care and education through their sister NGO IPHD.

It is a truly joyous place where the women are free not only to express their own creativity, but to have autonomy over their own working schedules, all the while lifting themselves & their families out of poverty.

Planet friendly packaging

Every part of the packaging has been mindfully thought through to be kind to the planet.

Each kimono is packaged in it’s own individual, hand-embroidered recycled sari drawstring bag, perfect for gifting to a loved one or to self.

Additionally, your order is packaged with tree-free recycled cotton paper postcards, and soy-based, compostable tissue paper and a recyclable eco postal box. Even our embossed stickers are wood-free and completely biodegradable.

When I first saw the ‘If Saris Could Talk’ kimonos on Instagram, I was hooked. But I was not prepared me for how beautiful they are in real life - the vibrant colours, the flow of the fabric, the lineage, the connection with rural India. I love wearing it and feeling close to the artisans who made it and connected to the women who wore it as a sari. If a kimono could be described as spiritual, then that is how this feels. Thank you Loft and Daughter.

I bought this a few days after receiving my first kimono because I loved it so much, and I love this one too - it's perfect in every way: the sizing, the weight, the length of the sleeves & bodice - I don't think it could be better if it was made specifically for me (it feels like it was, anyway - but that's beside the point!)
